3 Ways to Write a Book

3 Ways to Write a Book

Have you ever wanted to write a book but you feel like it's such a daunting task to do? Of course it can be daunting if you have never done it before but most people think there is only one way of writing a book.

There are different ways to write a book especially with the world of tools and resources that we have at our fingertips. Today, I will share 3 ways to write a book that is doable for any person. Let's get started:

  1. Just write the book

Of course, this is the most traditional way of writing a book. I was able to write my book The Tao of Self-Confidence in less than 3 months in order to have it launch for this year. As a first time author, of course I was nervous because I had a tight deadline to send in my full manuscript.

Instead of worrying about it, I started getting to work and a good friend gave me the best advice ever when it comes to writing your book.

"Write like your drunk and edit like you are sober"

That really helped me out just write the book without thinking about if the sentence will flow or it will make sense. I can edit it out later once I am done.

Another way I was able to get the book done so quickly was being able to split the book in 3 parts. I was able to finish it earlier because of it. Imagine, if you decided to write a page a day for your book for 365 days, you can have one full book or even two books.

2. Hire a Ghostwriter

If you are a very busy person, you can always hire a ghostwriter to write your book. In fact, many celebrity memoirs are written by ghostwriters. The highest paid ghostwriter that I could currently find is a man by the name of J.R. Moehringer. He is actually known as the ghostwriter for celebrities and has works with the Obamas and was rumoured to land a 7-figure deal writing Prince Harry's memoir. (Read the full article here )

It's also important to hire a good ghostwriter that understands your language and writing style. I have heard of people who have paid upto $20,000 for ghostwriter and the results were terrible. Be sure to research the person who you want to hire. As with any product and/or service, there are good ones and bad ones.

3. Audio Record Your Book

If writing is not your best skill, you can always voice record your book and hire someone to transcribe it into words. There is no shame in doing this, I have done this with Asian Women Who BossUP and it was a smart way to have a book done especially if you are a brand new author. Plus side, people loved reading the interview style when they bought the book.

Being able to this can also be time efficient on your part. You can voice record your book while you are taking a walk outside or while you are stuck in traffic. Once the voice recording is done, you can hire someone to transcribe recording into words.

People can still feel connected to your book because this is still coming from your authentic self. It's just another way to turning your words into a book so don't worry about the haters who may think this way of writing a book isn't legit because many people actually do this.

I hope these tips can help you start writing your book and get it out to the world. While writing a book is great, it is only 30% of the work. You still have to find someone to help you edit, publish and market the book. (Yes, it's a whole thing especially if you want a book that really stands out from everyone else)

Most people don't realize that marketing your book is the most important part of the whole process so that people can recognize who you are and position yourself as a leader in your industry.
