3 ways in which EVs are making a green impact on our planet

With #EarthDay right around the corner, conversations about the importance of going green and sustainability have certainly increased. While many choose to make an impact by changing the small practices in their life, it has been proven again & again that in today’s world, switching to EVs makes the most significant difference.?

Overall, there’s no denying that electric vehicles are by far the most sustainable option for mobility today.?

Let’s take a look at how EVs are making a green impact on our planet-?

1. Zero emissions?

For the longest time, pollution has been a concern. From the breaking down of the Ozone layer to causing severe health issues, pollution is a critical factor in the deterioration of our planet.?

The emissions from fuel-powered vehicles, including nitrous oxide, have been harmful to the environment.?

But in the case of EVs, since there is no fuel to burn, there are no direct or tailpipe emissions from EVs, making them the choicest vehicle for environmentally conscious people.?

2. Batteries are recyclable?

With practices like battery swapping gaining momentum, there is a genuine concern about how EVs will create dump yards full of waste - which isn’t great for the planet.?

But the truth is, parts of the batteries of electric vehicles are recyclable too!?

Metals that make up the battery can be recovered and used again for different purposes.?Usually, cathode metals like cobalt, nickel, lithium, and manganese are extracted in the first step of recycling. And other metals like Aluminium and Copper are dismantled from the old battery and recycled.

3. It’s better in the long-term

While the previous two points focus on the obvious factors as to why EVs are better for the environment, when you look closer, choosing to go electric is better in the long run too!?

As a general rule, electric vehicles require less maintenance than fuel-powered ones. This is because they have fewer moving parts and close to zero liquids like engine oil. The battery, too, requires less maintenance.?

Considering all of these factors, the amount of resources used overall is comparatively lesser for EVs!?
