3 Ways to Position Your Value to Command Higher Pay & Attract Lucrative Contracts

??You want to charge a higher price point. Or maybe you want to attract more lucrative partnerships and clients. How do you show your value? ?

It all comes down to HOW you position yourself.

Don’t:

?Flaunt your accomplishments or tell people how great you are. It comes across as egotistical.

?Try to convince anyone of your worth. It comes across as begging.

Do:

??Show don’t tell.

??Build credibility and trust.

How?

1. Gain Instant Credibility Before You Even Meet Your Prospect

?? Provide something of value before your meeting. Be sure to customize it based on what you know is important to them or that they are looking for.

Example: Before you have that sales call, email your prospect a short content piece that shows your brilliance - specific to the problem they want solving or the goal they are looking to achieve.

For my prospects who are looking to close more deals or negotiate better, I send them my article in INC magazine on the “7 speaking voice tactics to close the sale.”

Showing your value is much easier when you land reputable media attention. It's instant credibility and trust.

If you don't have media attention yet, message me and our team can help you. You can also find existing credibility pieces such as a TEDx talk, an insight paper you wrote, etc.

2. Leverage Influencers (without being a spammer)

?? Associating yourself with another reputable known person is a great way to position yourself and your value.

?? It HAS to be truthful and earned. We see too many people paying to be pictured with a celebrity or name dropping without having a real connection.

There are multiple ways you can do it. One great way is to comment on and share influencer's posts and articles. The KEY though is to add your own insights to showcase your knowledge. There are hundreds and thousands of eyeballs on that post and your insightful comment can stand out and drive new connections and potential clients your way.

Another way is by sharing the 'stage' with an influencer, whether it's an actual stage or being featured in the media alongside a known person.

Back in 2009, Former Presidents Obama, Trump and I all had featured articles in Performance Magazine in the same edition - my face was one the same page as theirs.

Another example is my dear friend and business partner Christina Daves - she is a PR strategist who has gotten her clients over 1 billion views and over $100 million in sales from FREE publicity.

Last year, she was quoted alongside Mark Cuban of Shark Tank Fame in an article in PC Magazine about email engagement. She did NOT go, “oooo look at me, look at me, look at me.” That is over the top. She DID simply share the article and referenced Mark Cuban as her equal.?

How would you like to be positioned in an article with someone like this? Or share the stage with a person of influence? The exposure is a game changer is HOW people see you. It's all positioning.

3. Ask the Right Questions

Back in 2019, Doug Brown, Former President of Sales for Tony Robbins, reached out for a consultation. Within 5 minutes, he said, "you are the real deal." And within 30 minutes had signed up for a high ticket training package. It paid off because 3 months later he projected his revenue would increase by $600K within that next year based on our initial results.

How did Doug KNOW I was the real deal within 5 minutes?

Because of the questions I asked him.

This is a big one.

??Take the time to research your prospects and create insightful questions that makes them think or perhaps even challenges their thinking.

It's magic because when you position your questions, they will see you as someone with deeper knowledge than the average person.

Great topic, Cindy Ashton (as always). Especially timely because presenting powerfully doesn’t equal positioning. I think there are too many who gain confidence in speaking and think everything else will fall into place. It’s not magic.
