Google Ads is an excellent platform for increasing quality website traffic. The ability to target consumers based on specific search phrases allows you the opportunity to attract potential customers. In a number of industries the average cost-per-click price is only a few dollars. While spending $2-$3 per click sounds like a lot, there are ways to optimize your account so that a majority of your visitors are qualified, all while operating on a limited budget.
1) Condense your campaigns: the more active campaigns you have, the thinner you spread your daily budget. For example, if you have a daily budget of $100 and you have 10 campaigns, that's only a $10 daily budget for each. If you were to reduce that number to 3 or 4, it becomes a $25-$33 daily budget per campaign, which will allow for significantly more daily clicks.
2) Get specific with your keywords: If you're on a tight budget, you need to make every paid visitor count. This means that if someone clicks on your ad, they need to be in search of something similar as what you offer/sell. For your targeted keywords, try to compile a list of 15-20 per Ad Group. Make sure you're using either the "phrase" or "exact" match targeting strategy, as this will prevent your ads from showing to an unwanted audience. AND, don't forget about establishing a healthy list of Negative Keywords, or phrases that you DON'T want to rank for. This will weed out any unwanted impressions, increasing the quality of the audience your ads will be shown to.
3) Operate on a schedule: If you're a local plumber, but don't want to offer 24/7 emergency service, you probably don't want your ads running at all hours of the night (especially in an industry with such a high demand). Research your target audience and figure out when they're most likely to be online. You can use both your Google Ads and Google Analytics data to determine when your visitors are most active. Then, setup a weekly schedule for your ads to run.
These are just a few of the many micro-strategies you can implement to help your Google Ads operate more efficiently, especially if you're on a limited budget. What are some of the strategies/tactics you use?
