3 Ways to Make Decisions with Intention

Where you are today is because of the decisions you make 3-5 years ago. Think about that for a moment. Do you remember the decisions you made about things in 2019? It doesn't seem like it was that long ago but it's already five years. When I sit back and realize that some of the things I did have manifested today, and also things I DIDN'T do have also manifested negatively.

It makes me realize the power of intention and making the decisions with a purpose is what will be a game-changer in life. The decisions you make today, will also affect the outcome of your life in the next 3-5 years.

So how do you make better decisions and do so with intention? I was thinking about that today because already the month of February is half over and I don't want another year to pass as quickly as 2023 did, without making more solid decisions that will have the greater impact necessary to get to the next level.

Here are three ways you can start to make decisions with intent this year.

1. Define your values and goals

Take the time to clarify what is truly important to you in your career and life. Reflect on your values, passions, and long-term aspirations. What kind of work environment do you thrive in? What are your non-negotiable values? What impact do you want to make? By having a clear understanding of your values and goals, you can make decisions that align with what matters most to you.

2. Gather relevant information

Seek input from trusted mentors, colleagues, and friends. Making intentional decisions requires a thoughtful consideration of different perspectives and potential outcomes. Research the opportunities or challenges ahead of you and seek advice from those who have navigated similar paths. By being well-informed and open to different viewpoints, you can make decisions that are grounded in understanding and insight.

While getting input from those trusted sources, it's also important to also take your intuition seriously. Although input from outside sources is valuable, your 'gut' is often leading you in the right direction.

3. Set a clear criteria and assess the risks involved.? What are the specific factors that matter most in your decision? Whether it's a career move, a project choice, or a personal development opportunity, consider the potential risks and rewards of each option. Assess the short-term and long-term implications of your decision, and consider how each choice aligns with your values and goals. By setting clear criteria and carefully weighing the risks, you can move forward with confidence and intentionality.

I hope these tips help you in navigating making better decisions with intention. It's something I'm also working on becoming better at this year so I can really lean into my potential and the greatness that lies within.
