3 Ways Leaders Can Navigate a Post-COVID World
After more than two years of constantly shifting workplace protocols, along with the stresses of the Great Resignation, many leaders are feeling uneasy, overwhelmed, and thoroughly drained. We hear over and over from our workshop participants and coaching clients that leadership challenges have gotten even more complicated in a post-COVID world. If you feel unsure about how to move forward, you’re not alone.
Having worked with hundreds of leaders over the years—through both challenging and “normal” times—we’ve learned what works. Here are three things you can do to help navigate a changing workplace landscape.
1. Get brutally honest with yourself first. Examine how you manage the challenges you’re confronting. While you can’t do much to control uncertainty, you can be candid with yourself and your employees about what is going on. Make it clear that this is a different world but one that you will navigate together.
2. Create an atmosphere of openness within your team. While we don’t recommend contradicting or campaigning against company policies and expectations, we do encourage you to discuss them openly and respectfully with your team. Make it clear that you want to hear their concerns and that you are willing to share your own.

3. Pay attention to how you come across to others to ensure that your behavior aligns with your intentions. No one is a mind reader. The only way people know who you are is through your behavior.
