3 ways to get the most out of AI in business in 2023

“How can we do this better?”?

It’s a question that lies at the heart of every successful business’s strategy. Whether the goal is to create cutting edge manufacturing tools, build sustainable transportation systems or design lifesaving safety plans, the way you approach the work has a measurable impact on how it turns out.

At proMX, we spend a lot of time improving business processes and creating tools that help organizations run better. We solve problems for our clients using the same technologies we use to solve our own problems: Microsoft Dynamics 365 products augmented with proMX’s in-house developed solutions. We’re constantly refining and updating our knowledge, so every month we’ll share our insights on the technology and ideas that are making business better.

First up, the topic that’s on everyone’s mind right now: AI.

There’s no getting around it—AI is already changing the way we work. Whether that change turns out to be positive or negative will depend on how organizations learn to harness it. With that in mind, here are 3 steps businesses can take to get the most out of AI in 2023.

1. Create an AI policy.

What are the rules regarding AI usage at your organization? As some companies have learned the hard way, employees need to understand which information should and should not be entered into generative AI tools. It’s also important to consider your company’s ethics and define what responsible use looks like for your business.

2.?Learn how to utilize the AI features of your existing technology.

Many of the tools we use every day have already begun incorporating AI into their functions. For example, Microsoft Copilot 365, an intelligent virtual assistant, is being rolled out to Microsoft’s Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and other productivity apps used in most offices. Companies using Dynamics 365 products can also use Copilot to generate product descriptions, automate data entry, and detect potential supply chain disruptions, among other tasks. Take a look at the technology you already use and make sure your team understands how its AI functions work.

3. Use AI to get the most out of your data.

Businesses can use AI to automate processes and gather insights from their data. The AI Builder tool on Microsoft’s Power Platform uses prebuilt models to address common business scenarios like invoice processing or sentiment analysis. Its custom models can be tailored to an organization’s specific needs, like creating a Power Automate flow that automates document processing.
