Let me ask you something…
How many times have you sent a LinkedIn message that you spent hours crafting, only to be met with… nothing?
You know your offer is top-quality, but somehow, your messages just vanish into the digital void.
But what if I told you there’s a proven method to not just capture attention but to start genuine conversations without being that spammy annoying person blasting out LinkedIn DM’s.
You heard that right!
The secret is Value-First Outreach, and today, I’m going to walk you through how to do it.
One more thing — this is the ONLY form of cold outreach I approve of on LinkedIn.
Why? Because it doesn’t burn bridges with your followers when you do it.
Let’s take a look:
What is Value-First Outreach?
Value-first outreach is when you give something useful to your connections before asking for anything in return.
You position yourself as a helpful guide, not a pushy salesperson…
This increases your chances of making a connection and eventually landing a sale.
Why Value-First Works
Examples of Value-First Outreach Messages
Offer Industry Insights
Good Example:
“Hey [Name], I noticed you’re in the real estate sector. I recently compiled data on Procurement Trends that could be useful for your next project. Would you like a copy?”
Here you’re providing actionable data, showing you’ve done your homework and care about their success.
Bad Example:
“Hey, I sell Procurement software. Want to a demo?”

In this case, you go straight for the sale without providing any value or showing that you understand their needs.
Share a Useful Resource
Good Example:
“Hi [Name], I saw your post about struggling with LinkedIn lead generation. I wrote an article explaining how to optimize your LinkedIn profile to convert more followers into booked calls. Would you like me to send it over?”
You’ve recognized a problem they have and are immediately providing a solution.
Bad Example:
“Hi [Name], check out my blog!”
This doesn’t provide immediate value or show that you understand their problem.
Provide a Quick Tip or Hack
Good Example:
“Hello [Name], I noticed you use a lot of hashtags in your LinkedIn posts. Did you know using more than 3 hashtags can actually lower your post’s visibility? Just a quick tip!”
This tip is simple, direct, and immediately useful.
Bad Example:
“Hi, want some LinkedIn tips?”
This is vague and requires the person to take an extra step to get the value you’re offering.
