3 Ways to Fall Back in Love with Your Career

3 Ways to Fall Back in Love with Your Career

When you landed your first career you might have felt excited or even blessed. Like the future you imagined was finally possible and happening. We just love that feeling here at Dare2Dream Careers… but we know that it doesn't always stay that way.

As you grow your career, and your life needs change you get your first promotion or new position, you might start to feel like your career isn’t quite at your desired level any longer. Sometimes, you might even dread getting started with a new career search or even sending out your resume… just because you don’t know what the first step is and definitely not the ones after that one.

Is there a way around that feeling? Can you fall back in love with your career? We think so. Here are a few tips to help!

3 Ways to Fall Back in Love with Your Career

1| Clarify Your Dream

"Your job is not just to do what your parents say, what your teachers say, what society says, but to figure out what your heart calling is and be led by that." - Oprah Winfrey

If you are ready to fall back in love with your career get ready to follow your heart. The biggest challenge we hear to following your heart is the blocks in your way. For many our mind, body and spirit is too cluttered or we have too many distractions in our way that don’t align with where we see our life now or in the future. It's time to clear the deck so you can see your way to your big life and career dreams. Simplifying your mind and environment can pay big dividends in getting started with your career search. A few simple tweaks can make all the difference in falling back in love with your career.

Our advice? Pause and answer these questions. This is meant to be a deep thought provoking activity. Take your time and lean into each and every word and ask yourself why is that?

  • What difference in the world do you want to make?
  • What is the vision you have for yourself and your family?
  • What is the one thing you're passionate about?
  • Who do you want to serve?
  • How do you want to serve?
  • What is in your way, preventing you from doing this right now?

2| Decide to Change

“Decision making is a fact of life, just like breathing. That’s what decision making really is.” ~ Charlie Jones

Careers are not meant to “set it and forget it.” If you want to keep loving your career, you need to decide to change. But not change just for change sake but a resolve to keep falling in love with your career every day.

Now you have a better idea of where you need to take your career to fall in love, but that opens a whole new set of unknowns and questions.

But we get it:Deciding to change is hard work. We want you to know that you do hard things.

Deciding is also an element of faith. In scripture we find these words.

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7

The journey back to loving your career involves faith and belief that you can do it. Should you doubt your ability, think back to something you did that was hard. Not something that took a long time but something that was complicated, where you moved outside of your comfort zone. Take these steps:

  • Recall a specific hard move or accomplishment.
  • Unpack what made it work and your steps to success
  • Use your past actions to create a path to love your career again

In short, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

Pro tip: Consider hiring us to show you how to get started and keep going. It will save you a ton of time and in the long run and allow you to reach your goals quicker than you could on your own. Respond to us in writing.

3| Do Something Scared Every Day

One of the easiest ways to fall back in love with your career is to stay focused on taking inspired action and to do something that scares you daily.

I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4

The idea of trying something different often scares us. What we can not do is allow our fears to overtake the faith that we can do hard things. Not only that but the belief that we have done it in the past and we will do it again and again in the future. The simple fact is that you begin to develop the muscle memory of doing something scary once you start. Ask yourself these questions to get moving towards loving your careers again.

  •  What would I do if fear no longer stood in my way?
  • What would happen if I were no longer afraid to dive in, head first, and go after my dreams, instead of feeling like I were sitting on the sidelines of my own life?
  • What then? What now?

My suggestion for taking one step right now towards falling back in love with your career. Learn how to cash in on your career and make a plan that you can actually follow.

A plan. That’s the missing piece, isn’t it? Having a plan gives you a sense of control over your career and your life. If you’re like a lot of our clients we call dreamers, you probably feel like you’ve been just living and not loving your career for months or maybe even years. You’re making excuses to keep going and searching for ways to stay positive. That may have gotten you through 2020, but now it’s time to find a better way.

I want you to know that it’s absolutely possible to fall back in love with your career by creating a plan —one that’s specific, measurable, achievable and timely.

It’s my mission this year to show 300 faith based professionals how to fall in love with their career again and cash in. Join me on March 13, 2021 at 12 pm ET for my Cash In On Your Career masterclass. This 90-minute training will help you learn how to manifest your 6-figure mindset and finally move forward with your big career goals. It’s happening live via FB and Zoom, so you can join me from anywhere to get this information.
