3 Ways To Check Your Website’s Google Consent Mode Setup

Starting in March 2024, it is mandatory to set up Google's consent mode v2 to use all the ad personalization features. This update came from the DMA (Digital Markets Act) to mandate the collection and usage of any personal data in the European Economic Area.

There are certain ways available for the setup and you can also follow up on how the mode setup is working. Here are the guidelines for you,

  • The first step is Google Tag Assistant. You have to install it from the Chrome web store, then tap on ‘enable’ to start recording your browsing session. Then start navigating your website and the extension will display the information about the tags.
  • After tag assistant now open Google consent mode debug view. In the tag manager you will get an option called ‘preview’, just click on the to enable the debug. Now you can open your website in the debug window. To check the data layer you can go to the debug panel and check whether the consent is given or denied.
  • To check out how the consent mode affects all the personal data collection you have to install Google Analytics Debugger and enable the debug mode.

Implementing these simple steps ensures that your website remains compliant with all the privacy regulations and efficient usage of available data.
