Busy Veterans- Do you want to ELEVATE your MIND and BODY and live a healthier more energised life? Find out how I can help deploy real life tactics without the BS by sending me a message.??
The spotlight on mental health is brighter than ever before. The military has come on leaps and bounds in looking after its personnel that are serving.
But what about when you leave??
With a complete switch in environment, mindset and way of life, mental health can be a real struggle for those leaving the military.?
So, if you are someone who is struggling, there are steps you can take to look after yourself when it comes to mental health, that are intertwined with achieving your fitness goals.
Clean up your diet! The longest nerve in your body is called the Vagus nerve. It connects your brain directly to your gut.
So, it would be stupid of us think there is no link between what you eat and how you feel. Cleaning up your diet will also enable you to get proper micronutrition.
Most of you that eat mainly processed foods, will more than likely be deficient in some vitamins or minerals. Plus, normally when you clean up your diet you will start to look better and have a newfound energy.
Get out exercising! Embarking on a fitness journey usually involves you doing some sort of exercise. Exercising releases “feel good” hormones like endorphins and serotonin.
It also helps get you out into social settings, which can counteract feelings of isolation and loneliness. There is also the added benefit of upping your confidence when exercising.

There is no better feeling than hitting a personal best, be it adding more weight to the bar or beating your last run time.?
Mindset practices are an awesome tool that I use in my 121-coaching program.
We, as ex-military, are very harsh on ourselves, we all have that voice in our heads, slating ourselves for messing up.
This leads to bad input to the brain and what you input, directly influences your output. So if you constantly feed your brain with negative input, that will turn into your reality.
Instead, we can use techniques such as gratitude lists, list things that are good and you are grateful for.
We can also use Affirmations, positive sentences repeated that counteract our negative input.
There is SO much MORE to health and fitness than being ripped or strong. So, if you are someone that is feeling low, trying these three steps will help you surface from the dark.
