3 Ways to Boost Your Energy Without Caffeine

3 Ways to Boost Your Energy Without Caffeine

Feeling tired and lethargic at the end of the day?

Wish you could have more energy to kick all your daily goals without limitation?

In this edition of Ditch The Dad Fat Weekly, I reveal three ways to boost your energy levels, without caffeine, energy drinks or supplements.

1.? ? Water.

?Do you drink enough water in the day? Are you dehydrated or are you hydrated, it's one or the other. If you're hydrated, you're going to have more energy throughout the day, it's simple as that.

?

If you're 1% dehydrated, that means you're thirsty. So when you're thirsty, you're starting to dehydrate and that reduces your focus and concentration.

?

If you're 5%, dehydrated, you're going to be tired and your performance will start to decrease.

?

If you're any more than 5% dehydrated, you're going to suffer potential physical damage to your health and may lead to fainting. Mostly you wouldn’t be any more dehydrated than 5%, but you want to avoid getting to that level all together. So to avoid this, we want to drink enough water, not just in one sitting, but throughout the whole day.

?

The best way is to get a head start in the morning by drinking at least two cups of water first thing.?

How much water do we need??

Generally, we're looking at 2.5 - 3 litres. If you're weighing more than 100 kilos, then I'd be aiming for at least 3 litres. It all depends on how active you are and how hot it is outside.?

The higher these factors are, the more water you need. Our body is made of over 70% of water, so make sure you're getting enough!

?

2.? ? Overeating

If we overeat, we're going to have less energy.?

Why??

Because when you consume food, your stomach needs to digest it which requires energy. So your body needs to divert its energy sources to digest that food. When you overeat, it takes longer to digest and more energy also. It takes away that energy from your whole body, that's why we get lethargic, otherwise classified as a ‘food coma’.

?

So what do we do about it??

We should not be eating until we're very full, especially for weight loss. How do we measure it??

You should eat until you’re about 80% full. Leave that 20% buffer so that you're not lethargic and still have that energy to keep doing your daily activities.

?

3.? ? Sleep

We should be spending a third of our life sleeping. That's how important it is. It's an opportunity for our bodies to recover and rejuvenate for the whole day physically and mentally. So sleep is very important.

?

Do you know that your body actually talks to you??

Did you know that it talks to you through signals in different ways??

Pain and feelings are ways that your body talks to you. For example, when you have joint pain, it's telling your body to avoid any further stress or weight on it to protect your body from more injury. So it's trying to stop you, it's trying to warn you. That's the same thing with fatigue. Fatigue is warning you that you're not getting enough sleep, that's trying to slow you down. When you're feeling fatigued, you don't have as much energy and you don't want to keep going as strong, because your body's telling you to slow down and go to sleep or rest. So that's its first warning to you.

?

The second way the body talks to us is through forced action, for instance, if you don't listen to your joint pain and you keep pushing through it, you're likely to injure it further. It's your body's survival mechanism to protect your body. It's the same with fatigue and sleep. Your body's telling you what you need to sleep and when you don't listen to it, your body tries to force you to fall asleep. It's forcing you to rest your body.

?

They're the three simple steps that we need to take to boost your energy and they're all natural, they don't need caffeine. You're either overeating, you're not getting enough sleep and/or you’re not drinking enough water.
