Converting followers to customers can sometimes feel impossible ??
When it comes to social media copy, many marketers rely on messaging to sell, sell, sell, and get frustrated when their audience doesn’t buy, buy, buy.
All logical reasoning suggests that if people are following you on social media, they’re interested in whatever you’re selling, and therefore should generate at least a single “buy,” let alone three. But what we often forget is that people are not logical– they are emotional. And therefore, your social media presence should also be emotional.
When it comes to killer social media copy, emotional intelligence trumps conventional wisdom every single time. We aren’t suggesting you reveal your latest therapy revelations (unless that is your brand, then do you), but we are suggesting that you put some feels into your Reels (and other posts, but that didn’t work with the rhyme).
So, how can you leverage EQ to craft copy that not only converts, but also builds a trusting and loyal relationship with your customers? Here are our 3 tips??
1. It’s Storytime...
Instead of focusing on the product or service you are selling, focus on telling a compelling story that resonates with your audience. ?? People love stories that evoke emotions, so use that to your advantage. A well-told story can create a stronger connection with your followers, which can ultimately lead to more conversions. Think about what your target audience cares about, what their pain points are, and how your product or service can solve their problems.
2. Prioritize Quality Over Quantity
It can be tempting to churn out a lot of posts in a short amount of time to keep your social media accounts active, but quality should always take precedence over quantity. Instead, focus on crafting a smaller number of well-thought-out posts that provide value to your audience.
When creating content, put yourself in your target audience's shoes and consider what kind of content they would find valuable and engaging (AKA practice some empathy!).
3. Move Over Hashtags, There’s a New Sheriff in Town…
While hashtags were once critical to reach a broader audience, the key now is: keywords ??. Start by identifying the keywords and phrases that are relevant to your brand, product, or service. Use keyword research tools like Google Keyword Planner or SEMrush to find out what your target audience is searching for and what keywords your competitors are using.
Once you've identified your target keywords, incorporate them into your social media copy in a natural and authentic way. Don't stuff your posts with keywords: get strategic and review the analytics to see which keywords are generating the most engagement to adjust accordingly. ??
