3 tips on how to make the best use of LinkedIn Pages ??

It's Friday ??

Today I'm catching up with admin, going for a couple of runs and having a sports massage.

There'll be no issues of The Social Daily next week as I'm taking a rare holiday ???

Back on Monday 26 June with the next issue.

In the meantime, do good things on social!

AI news

Meta has shared a new generative AI paper ??

The blog post on Meta AI's website introduces the first AI model based on Yann LeCun’s vision for more human-like AI, called the Image Joint Embedding Predictive Architecture (I-JEPA). This model learns by creating an internal model of the outside world, comparing abstract representations of images rather than the pixels themselves.

I-JEPA has shown strong performance on multiple computer vision tasks and is more computationally efficient than other widely used computer vision models. The representations learned by I-JEPA can be used for many different applications without needing extensive fine-tuning. For instance, a 632M parameter visual transformer model was trained using 16 A100 GPUs in under 72 hours, achieving state-of-the-art performance for low-shot classification on ImageNet with only 12 labeled examples per class.

The I-JEPA model is based on the concept that humans learn a significant amount of background knowledge about the world just by passively observing it. AI researchers have tried to devise learning algorithms that capture this common sense background knowledge and then encode it into a digital representation the algorithm can access later.

The I-JEPA model is a step towards a broadly capable joint-embedding predictive architecture. It predicts missing information in an abstract representation that’s more akin to the general understanding people have. Compared to generative methods that predict in pixel/token space, I-JEPA uses abstract prediction targets for which unnecessary pixel-level details are potentially eliminated, leading the model to learn more semantic features.

The blog post also mentions that I-JEPA pretraining is computationally efficient and doesn't involve any overhead associated with applying more computationally intensive data augmentations to produce multiple views. Only one view of the image needs to be processed by the target encoder, and only the context blocks need to be processed by the context encoder.

The post concludes by stating that I-JEPA demonstrates the potential of architectures for learning competitive off-the-shelf image representations without the need for extra knowledge encoded through hand-crafted image transformations. The team is looking forward to extending the JEPA approach to other domains, like image-text paired data and video data. In the future, JEPA models could have exciting applications for tasks like video understanding. This is an important step towards applying and scaling self-supervised methods for learning a general model of the world.

Screen sharing for WhatsApp video calls, previously mentioned here, is now available to some WhatsApp beta testers.

Thanks to WABetaInfo for this one.

Instagram launches broadcast messages plus improvements being tested too??

Instagram has officially launched broadcast style chat messages ???

You might remember that I mentioned this one nearly a year ago.

Adam Mosseri, Instagram CEO, has announced that several other improvements to this new feature are being tested too.

Meta Releases New Generative AI Tool That Can Create Music from Text Prompts ??

Meta has released a new generative AI model called 'MusicGen' that can create music from text or melody prompts. The AI tool uses samples of songs and instrument styles built into its back-end generative elements to create new music. Users can specify the type of track they want and MusicGen will generate variations of that audio.

The model has been trained on 20,000 hours of music, including both whole tracks and individual instrument samples. While it's not widely available yet, the future implications could be significant, providing new ways to create original music, potentially changing the approach for musicians, marketers, and more.

However, the tool could face legal challenges, especially from the music industry, which is already pushing to stop unlicensed usage of their content. This includes simulations of well-known artists and samplings of their owned content and tracks. Despite potential legal hurdles, AI-generated songs could become increasingly common, and tools like MusicGen could open up new avenues for people to create their own music for various purposes.

3 tips on how to make the best use of LinkedIn Pages ??

Here are three best practices for using LinkedIn company pages effectively:

Fill Out All Page Details:?When creating your LinkedIn company page, make sure to fill out as many details as possible. This can include your company's business name, public URL, website URL, industry, company size, and company type. Don't forget to add a profile image and tagline as well. This gives LinkedIn members as much information as possible about your business.

Post Engaging Content with Your Followers:?Sharing useful and engaging content can attract more followers to your page. This can include new product or service announcements, job openings, links to new content on your website, relevant industry information, behind-the-scenes photos that feature your employees’ work life, and more. The goal is to provide content that your followers will find valuable and interesting, encouraging them to interact with your posts and stay connected with your company.

Interact with Your Followers:?It's important not only to post content but also to interact with your followers. This can involve acknowledging comments, answering questions, and reacting to posts where your business is tagged. This interaction shows your audience that your business cares about its audience and is willing to engage in dialogue, which can help to build a stronger relationship with your followers. You can now follow other company pages as your page so engage with their content in your company page feed.

Remember that LinkedIn is a professional networking site, so the tone and type of content you post should reflect that. It's also important to keep your company page up to date with the latest information about your business.

And finally
