Came home from the farmer's market.
Mom prepared breakfast.
Baby bro is at school.
It's sunny outside — 56 degrees here in New York.
Let's talk about 3 tips to handle failure.
------------------------------
One of the things in life we all have to deal with.
Failure.
It's when you want something and you fail to get it.
Happens to us all the time.
You may be thinking:
"Why are you telling me this, Craig?"
So you can prepare to handle it.
Here are 3 tips to handle failure:
1. Have a backup plan to prepare for the worst.
You may have heard of this quote:
"Hope for the best and prepare for the worst."
Or any similar quote.
It means to be optimistic and be ready for any possibility.
You can apply it to any situation:
Think about what happens when you succeed.
And your next plan when things don't go your way.
2. Reframe failure as an experiment and an experience.
I had a case where I failed an interview 7 years ago.
Didn't prepare in advance and winged it.

Last year in 2023, had the same interviewer.
From 7 years ago.
This time, I was 7 years wiser and got better.
Didn't receive the call.
What happened next was interesting...
I got the job offer email at 1pm.
What changed was this:
Asking better questions.
Doing the research.
Asking for help.
Most of all, changing my mindset.
Failure is an experiment for you to try a different approach.
And it's an experience to know what to work on.
3. Be comfortable with failure and embrace it as a learning opportunity.
You may be reading this article on a computer.
Or a mobile phone.
Or a laptop.
Embrace and seek failure.
It will help you get comfortable and you feel numb to it.
What helps me is this quote:
"How can I get better tomorrow?"
You learn and adapt.
See you in the next one!
Talk soon,
Craig

2 周We often fear failure more than mistakes, shying away from taking risks. Here’s the truth: Fearing failure stifles growth. Here’s how to embrace it: 1/ Acknowledge and Reflect ? Accept failure as part of the journey and reflect on what went wrong. 2/ Reframe Failures ? Shift your perspective—failures are lessons in disguise, not endpoints. 3/ Apply and Evolve ? Take what you’ve learned and adjust your approach for next time. 4/ Celebrate Progress ? Growth stems from trial and error, not perfection. Do you fear failure too??

2 周Failure is hard for perfectionists. Yet, the idea of perfection is unrealistic anyway. So you were at less than 100%. Was 95% or 90% good enough? Even 85%? Sometimes, our failure isn't even reality, Craig.
