3 Tips to Get Into the Holiday Spirit

3 Tips to Get Into the Holiday Spirit

It's already mid-December, a time to be in the full swing of the holiday season.

For many of you, it might seem like a very difficult year to get into the holiday spirit (and holidays can be difficult in general; let's not stick our heads into the sand and deny that).

I've got my top three tips to share with you on how to make the holidays fun.

1. Connect

2. Care (for self and others)

3. Contribute

Here are the fun details:

Connect. If you are not able to gather with loved ones due to physical distancing, have you scheduled your Zoom, Facetime, or another way to connect?  I'd highly recommend setting that up now. There are many ways to make that "online" connection fun, like preparing a recipe together, going around and sharing stories or rhymes, or doing an activity together.

Care. Go ahead, put yourself first.  There are MANY ideas for you on self-care at my blog, from tips from my girlfriend doctor (Dr. Anna Cabeca) to skincare to eating well.  Check out the many ideas.

Contribute.  My giving is way up this year, across all areas of time, treasure and talent.  I've fired up my work at Nurture with new team members, and we are working on ideas of how we can help communities (specifically children and families) to improve their health. If you have ideas for Nurture in terms of programs, needs, or even getting involved, please reach out to me via my Contact form. You can also donate to Nurture if you feel inspired to help families in need this year. Our mission is outlined here, and you can scroll down the page to hear from children and teachers about how our programs have made a fun and positive impact (warning: the kid videos are adorable and addictive!).

When you Connect, Care and Contribute, things can improve. What you put your attention on grows. I will be endeavoring to make the holidays fun, and I wish you and yours a wonderful holiday season!
