“preventing you from searching in the dark and finding the key to the scary / exciting question “what do I really want to do?” “ - nailed it with the exciting yet scary question. So simple yet so few can authentically articulate their answer.

When in a state of panic or uncertainty, it can be so difficult to step out of the light ('at least I can see") and into the dark "what's waiting for me in there?"). Your solutions are simple and effective ("allow my eyes time to adjust to the dark"). Really insightful post!

Another gem Vanessa. I've heard that parable before, but this is a great application of it, and very true. We stick with what we are familiar with, even if it means low rates of success. Doing what the herd does might be comforting, but often not in our best interest.

Thanks for sharing, Vanessa! I've seen the streetlight effect (looking for solution in familiar places without properly exploring the unknown) a few times and I wasn't aware of the term.
