3 Things You Should Do On LinkedIn Before 2021

We’re rounding the corner on another year – granted an unusual one – and there are less than 60 days before 2021. With the new reality, more people are using LinkedIn for business. Networking, job seeking, building new relationships.

It more important than ever to make sure you are on your LinkedIn game! Here are three quick things to do on LinkedIn before the end of the year:

1. Review and update your profile

Your LinkedIn profile is the business card of the platform. It's important to be sure it's up to date and all the information is accurate. Did you change jobs in 2020? Start a new project, or complete one? Read your profile from your customer's perspective and make sure it represents you correctly.

What about your profile picture? Is it up to date? Now granted, most of us don’t have a picture that makes us look THAT much younger, but keep in mind, when you have a zoom call with someone – or a job interview – the picture should be representative of what you look like currently.

2. Connect. Reconnect. Disconnect.

Before social media, we would collect business cards and keep them in a drawer. Not always referring to them if we weren't doing business with someone that week/month/year.

Your connections are similar. They accumulate, and unless you stay in touch with them, the connection can become inconsequential.

Before the year is over, take time to strengthen your network. Connect with like-minded individuals and professionals that could be potential referral sources.

Plus, review your connections and see if it would be advantageous to reach out to them and reconnect with them. This, by the way, should be done on a regular basis if you have numerous first level connections.

Finally, review your connections and disconnect with anyone you cannot help, or has your best interests at heart. By the way, if you do disconnect from them, they will not be notified. It’s a seamless process.

3. Up your LinkedIn content game

Are you posting on LinkedIn on a regular basis? Does your content only talk about the products and services your company sells, or does it provide real value to your network?

Take time to do a content audit and determine if you are on your LinkedIn content game. LinkedIn has put a major emphasis on content because they recognize that content is the way to connect with your current and potential customers.

2021 is less than eight weeks away. Now is the time to up your game on LinkedIn!
