We all know the feeling... A bad night's sleep tend to result in a bad day's work.
Pesonally, I struggle much more with staying focused on what I'm supposed to be doing and avoiding social media scrolling when I'm tired during the work day.
My mind is simply everywhere.
After a night of better sleep, it's easier to stay focused on-task, and lower risk for procrastination. Procrastination is to put off the important tasks that we are supposed to be doing for "later".
While this can feel nice in the moment, you also run the risk of increased work strain and stress later on. At the end of the day, you may be left with a feeling of not feeling satisfied or accomplished after the work day is done.
It's easy to bring this feeling with you into the bedroom in the evening. Stress and worry are common reasons for disturbed sleep. You may find yourself in a turning wheel of bad sleep - worry - non-optimal performance that feeds itself.
It's good to keep in mind, that you CAN break this vicious circle and get better sleep, if you know which steps to take. I am sure that you would see many positive effects on your daytime, performance and wellbeing as soon as sleep is improving!
Better sleep could not only help you to do what you are acctually supposed to be doing, it can also make you more creative! Finding those novel solutions that may be the difference between success and mediocre.
Sleep should be every entrepreneur's best friend that you would really want to care for! Do you think it is?
As you have figured out by now, sleep is important. But I also want to remind you that even if you haven't slept optimal this particular night, you are not doomed to live in a blurry limbo between wake and sleep for the rest of the day! There are things you can do to restore some alertness and make you shine despite tiredness...
Taking a short nap can have long lasting effects on your performance!
Even if you don't have the opportunity to take a nap or can't fall asleep, there are other things you can do to increase alertness:
Sleep well! and dance fiercely ;)
