3 THINGS THURSDAY - 03 Aug 2023
Here is an article on the top three things (Videos, Books, Apps, Tools, Music, etc) that made a difference to my week. You might also find them useful.
This week it was...
1)?Car trip up to... Mt Stirling
2) Great book I’m reading... Almanack of Naval Ravikant
3) A serious coach I’m working with to do something... Paul Jayilian at Empire Fitness
The Pic of the week above…
Me making a percolated coffee on Mt Stirling. It's the simple pleasures when you are away camping. Everything tastes better even the super strong coffee from my hike percolator, finished with a good squeeze of condensed milk. This pic is me in one of the stockman's (renovated) huts on the mountain. I, and a few blokes I hike with, did a snowshoe hike up the mountain, camped out in the snow, then hiked back out. Stunning!
Here are the top three things that have made a difference in my week.?They might also be useful for you, or not.
1.?Car trip up to...
I had the best car trip ever, up to Mt Stirling. In fact, I’d say the trip there and back was better than the hike. On the way up I traveled with one of my run buddies and had 3 hours of conversation. Then on the way back, I traveled with another run buddy and had another 3 hours of different conversation. Both of these guys I didn't know super well, apart from superficial conversations whilst running. During the drive however we covered everything including marriage, religion, sex, health, happiness, kids, success, and life balance. We each had different careers, life experiences, religious beliefs, and upbringings. It made for a rich, deep, and rewarding trip. It broadened my understanding and appreciation for others' perspectives. More car trips with strangers for me.
2)?Great book I’m reading…
The book introduces the idea that getting rich and being happy are not solely reliant on luck or innate traits but are skills that can be learned. It highlights Naval Ravikant, an entrepreneur, philosopher, and investor, who has garnered global attention for his principles on wealth-building and long-term happiness. The "Almanack of Naval Ravikant" is a compilation of his wisdom and experiences from the past decade, featuring insights from his interviews and reflections. The book is not a conventional how-to guide but rather a collection of Naval's words that aim to guide readers in finding their own unique path toward a happier and wealthier life. Again great to get a different perspective on life and money.
3)?A serious coach I’m working with to do something…

I decided for the rest of this year I would put in some serious training around reshaping my body. Yep, I’m having a crack at bodybuilding. I believe in surrounding yourself with the best when you want to achieve something so I went looking for someone who specializes in body building and body recomposition and found Paul Jayilian across the road from our Rosebud Practice. Paul has competed over 70 times and has won Novice Champion, Allstate Champion, Victorian Champion, Australian Champion, FitX Champion, Arnold Classic Champion, Kahma Classic Champion, and World Campion. He is a no mucking-around, old school, bodybuilder. I am eating a lot of protein at the moment to go with 6 days of lifting plus 6 days of cardio. The results have started to show since starting 4 weeks ago. Thanks to having someone keep me accountable and create standards around the discipline, sacrifice and effort required.
Super important to find a group of like-minded people that will challenge you, champion you, and inspire you to stay on track. Who do you have championing you at the moment?
The quote of the week is...
“If you are not willing to risk the unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary.” Jim Rohn
I would love your feedback on what had an impact on you and the lesson in it, the moral of the story, or the learning you would share.?
Have a ripper finish to your week.
Cheers!
