3 Things to Look For in an Independent Adjusting Firm: Experience, Procedure, Technology
Insurance companies worldwide are facing disruptions caused by the novel coronavirus, SARS- CoV -2. Prediction of business damages is in the billions of dollars, and many thousands of claims will be filed.
Clients want fast, responsive service, and you require efficient , professional adjusters. Your office needs help to process the escalating numbers of claims requiring diligent, thorough investigation, and documentation.
Now you’ve decided to reach out for some help to move all those claims off your desk, what do you look for?
In the 40 years The Littleton Group has been in operation, I have had a chance to get to know a lot of insurance claims services and look at the differences of operation.
My recommendation; look at these three things:
● Qualified and Experienced Personnel – Many companies use 1099 adjusters without a lot of experience. Compare that to our W2 adjusters who have an average of 13 years of knowledge in a variety of settings, and you can imagine the difference. Ask how long their adjusters have been working and with which types of claims.
● Well-Managed Operations – Is there a Dedicated Account Manager for each account? Is every file reviewed by a manager before finalization? How much experience do these managers have? Mistakes can be costly and time-intensive to fix in this business.
● Standardized Systems/Customized Products – Often only the largest claims services can customize their management system to upload claims directly from your clients to streamline processes. At The Littleton Group, we have found this to be an extremely efficient method and I highly recommend it.
Compare Reputation and Customer Service
In addition, investigate the reputation of the company. Do they process claims efficiently? How is their customer service?
I would look for a company that can respond to your needs rapidly and shift capacity as demands change. Coverage for disasters such as COVID-19 will depend on the specific facts of the claim, the policy language , and applicable state laws. You need to be confident that expert adjusters will scrutinize each claim.
Insurance can be impersonal and the claims process stressful. Our goal should be to make it as positive as it can be and make a tough time easier for everyone.
I hope that these lessons from experience will help you choose the right company. Of course, I believe in our company, and Littleton staff is ready to respond and provide the assistance you need to deal with the mountains of claims you are processing.
With decades of experience, we have the infrastructure in place to move quickly and maintain expert quality.
