3 THINGS TO LOOK FOR IN A DAILY USE PRODUCT FOR HEAVY DUTY AUTOSCRUBBER CLEANING TASKS

1) Controlled/Low foam – excessive foam can sometimes reach various mechanical parts and motors and cause challenges. Use of a controlled foam product under cleaning operating conditions is the best choice. Use of a defoamer like Wood Wyant’s REGAL DEFOAMER (applied via the recovery hose connected to the squeegee assembly) can help overcome this challenge. However this requires the operator to remember to use the defoamer with every emptying of the recovery tank. 

2) Moderate alkalinity/acidity – very high and very low pH cleaners may affect metal parts, gaskets and flexible components like tubing and squeegee blades with daily use. Use the least corrosive technology available to do the job.

3) Low solvent content at RTU – solvents have the potential to cause gaskets and flexible components like tubing and squeegee blades to swell and alter their physical properties with persistent and prolonged exposure. Low or no solvent content is preferred in a daily use cleaner.

Heavy duty cleaning and de-greasing products traditionally rely on high alkalinity and solvents to power through difficult jobs. These types of products may be acceptable for occasional use. For daily use this kind of older technology may increase the need for service – just like commercial vehicles have higher service needs than passenger cars.
