Dow futures slip as S&P 500, Nasdaq tread water amid wave of earnings:?US stock futures slipped on Tuesday as investors absorbed a fresh wave of earnings and waited for Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL) to lead in the week's Big Tech results, seen as key to any future stock rally. ?

Dow Jones Industrial Average futures (YM=F) edged down 0.2%, coming off a sharp gain as all the gauges closed higher. Futures on S&P 500 (ES=F) fell 0.1%, while contracts on the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 (NQ=F) were little changed.

Bitcoin Tops $71,000 for First Time Since June as Election Nears:?Bitcoin rose past $71,000 for the first time since June, bolstered by inflows into dedicated exchange-traded funds as well as speculation about the potential outcome of next week’s US election.

The largest digital asset climbed as much as 2.7% before paring some of the move to change hands at $71,415 as of 7:57 a.m. on Tuesday in New York. Smaller tokens such as second-ranked Ether and meme-crowd favorite Dogecoin also pushed higher.

?Dollar profits from Japan political uncertainty, pound awaits UK budget:?The dollar hit three-month highs against the yen on Tuesday as the loss of a parliamentary majority for Japan's ruling coalition in weekend elections muddied the political and monetary picture, while sterling was firm ahead of a new British budget. The Chinese yuan, which touched its weakest level against the dollar since mid-August, showed little reaction to the possibility Beijing may issue over $1.4 trillion in new debt as part of a series of measures to shore up the economy.

?The dollar is heading for its largest monthly rise against a basket of major currencies in 2-1/2 years, and holding near three-month highs, ahead of a slew of U.S. employment and inflation data this week that could determine the path for Federal Reserve policy.
