Dow, Nasdaq, S&P 500 slide as Treasury yields hit highest level since July:?US stocks retreated on Tuesday as investors digested a recent bond-market selloff and braced for the next wave of earnings reports. The S&P 500 (^GSPC) dropped more than 0.5%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) dropped more than 120 points, or around 0.3%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) slid roughly 0.6%.

Stocks are coming under pressure amid growing doubts that the Federal Reserve will continue to cut rates aggressively — or even hold steady in November.?

IMF Lowers Global Growth Forecast, Warns of Increasing Risks:?The International Monetary Fund lowered its global growth forecast for next year and warned of accelerating risks from wars to trade protectionism, even as it credited central banks for taming inflation without sending nations into recession.?

The IMF said in an update of its World Economic Outlook released on Tuesday that global output will expand 3.2%, 0.1 percentage point slower than a July estimate. It left the projection for this year unchanged at 3.2%. Inflation will slow to 4.3% next year from 5.8% in 2024.

Mortgage rates spike for third straight week while buyers grow cautious:?Mortgage rates rose for the third consecutive week, prompting fewer homebuyers and refinancers to move forward with transactions. ?The average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage rose to 6.44% in the week through Wednesday, hitting the highest level since August.

?A week earlier, it was 6.32%. ?Average 15-year mortgages jumped to 5.63%, from 5.41% a week earlier. Mortgage rates have been on the rise as markets adjust expectations about the size and pace of future Federal Reserve rate cuts.?
