?The Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) lagged, dropping 0.3% from its latest record as drugmaker Amgen (AMGN) tumbled 11% on weight-loss data that failed to impress Wall Street.
Consumer confidence rises to the highest level since July 2023:?Americans continue to feel more upbeat about the outlook for the US economy. ?The latest index reading from the Conference Board was 111.7 in November, above the 109.6 seen in October and the highest level in over a year.
?Based on consumers' short-term outlook for income, business, and labor market conditions, the expectations index ticked up 0.4 percentage points to 92.3, significantly above the threshold of 80 that typically signals recession ahead.
Trump’s Tariff Threat to Top Trading Partners Roils Markets:?President-elect Donald Trump vowed additional tariffs on Mexico, Canada, and China, shaking markets with his first specific threats to the US’s top trading partners since his election win three weeks ago.
?Trump said he would impose an additional 10% tariffs on goods from China and 25% tariffs on all products from Mexico and Canada, in his Truth Social network posts on Monday.
