3 Things I would look for in a CV/Resume

Innovative Individuals

As an employer, the most important thing I would consider when selecting potential candidates is the aspect of innovation and creativity. Innovative individuals add value to the organization by viewing processes from a better angle. The focus of all organizations/companies is attaining the goal of profit maximization while at the same time reducing operational costs and duration taken in achieving set milestones.

Entrepreneurs

It might sound odd might entrepreneurs tend to take their careers seriously. Just like their business, they consider their careers as part of them. I would not mind someone who is into a small business, provided they own it. I would emphasize on the journey it has taken them in order to position their business in the competitive world. The reason as to why I insist on this is because applicants have the language in a CV/Resume, which is convincing but when recruited, they fail achieving individual and organizational goals.

Online Portfolio

Yes. An online portfolio is a must for all applicants in my selection list. If you do not have an online portfolio, then it means you are old school and won’t be able to keep up with technology trends. It should be noted that most organizations are digitizing their processes and services. The entire portfolio should have clickable links that will lead me directly to what I am interested in the CV. Some Resumes add up to more than 30 pages, and as a recruiter sifting hundreds of applications, I do not have the time to read through the entire encyclopedia. The online portfolio also needs to reflect your growth and development in the career world, as well as your personal journey. This information is vital in helping me know the kind of a person I will be dealing with.

NOTE: Your academic achievements are just a minimum qualification as per company policy, but to be frank, as a hiring officer, I would not delve so much into it.
