3 things that help me when i'm travelling on business - international travel health tips

Travelling always disrupts eating, training and sleeping. Especially when you get to a country and your host wants to treat you to the local food, tradition and culture. It would be offensive to say no! 3 things that I try and do to keep me on the ball is:

1) Avoid eating the trash on the aeroplane. I take my own food, plan my trip to the airport and usually have a better meal and a shower in the lounge just before boarding. I make sure that I'm full and fresh before I get on! It helps me relax and usually get some essential planning, rest and sleep on the journey.

2) Stick to the basics. Flying dehydrates you more! and if you are visiting a hot country you are going to get hit with humidity, time change and its usually a downhill spiral from there. So get plenty of water, drink water on the aeroplane and stock up when you arrive!

3) Remember that you're not on holiday! resist the temptation to sacrifice sleep and fall into the trap of naughty sweets and cakes to keep your energy up. Try and fit in some exercise in your room, book a hotel that has a gym, take your running shoes or even a TRX in your bag.

Once your sleep has improved, introduce some exercise. Do it in that order! training on poor sleep, time change and inflammation is more harmful than beneficial.

Get your body clock to the best point that you can and introduce some exercise gradually.

Hopefully this has helped somebody - Safe Travels
