The 3 things every profesional should do to stay safe online

After I wrote about how cybercrime is our modern day social cancer I got a lot of requests to share tips for every profesional to stay safe, this is not an exhaustive list but its the minimum you should be doing:

1.Defend your account

• Use a password manager, avoid simple passwords that are easy to guess, don’t repeat passwords across accounts.
• Activate Multi-Factor Authentication for all your accounts if available, avoid critical services that dont support it.

2.Defend against phishing

• Be wary of phishing emails, they are often marked urgent or are too good to be true.
• Validate sender address and the real URL that you are being asked to click.
• If in doubt, copy and paste embedded links rather than clicking on them.

3.Defend your device

• Regularly check and install updates, including firmware and critical hardware ones.
• Use anti-virus and anti malware (like Windows Defender) and keep it updated.
