3 Techniques to Uncover Your Limiting Beliefs

Have you ever had that feeling that something is holding you back from doing something?
I do!! As if it was yesterday!
I remember at the beginning of working with ABB, as Sales Account Manager. I wanted to build relationships with the senior leaders of the companies I had assigned to my portfolio.
I vividly recall feeling hesitant to pick up the phone to make the cold call and introduce myself.
I procrastinated!!
As I was already doing my self-work, and I knew my behaviour was negatively impacting my performance. I got curious, and I asked myself,
Why am I feeling this way? Where is it coming from?
Then, I hear the voice in my head,
"They are not going to take you seriously." "You are not bringing value."
and I thought,
"WOW! This is what I am telling myself and believing! No wonder why I am not taking action."
At that moment, I found my limiting belief, and I started working with it!
All of us have limiting beliefs that are rotted in our subconscious programming, and when we are not aware of them, they manage our life, and we live as if on autopilot.
If you want to realize your full potential, it is essential you work on uncovering your limiting beliefs.
And today, I have 3 techniques that you can work on to discover them.
- Bring awareness to your thoughts and your self-conversations. They reveal what is in your programming.
- Every time you have an unpleasant emotion/feeling, get curious about what belief got triggered that makes you feel in this way.
- Be intentional about finding your beliefs. Ask yourself what beliefs I have around this (project/situation) and how they can limit me.
I continue applying these 3 techniques in my life to uncover my limiting beliefs, and today I invite you to do the self-work to discover yours.
Once you uncover your limiting beliefs you are empowered because now you know what is holding you back and you can work on that belief to stop its negative influence on you.
The beauty of this self-work is that we cannot only transform those limitations and start seeing more possibilities available to us. We start understanding what freedom truly is, and we align to our limitless potential.
