3 Tasks to Ensure the Best Email Marketing Experience for Your Customers

I hope you are enjoying spider season (I mean fall). The leaves are changing and the rain has arrived in the northwest. Hello stormy dog walk season!

I’ve had a few weird things happen in the email marketing world this past month and thought as we ramp of for holiday and year end communications it would be helpful for you to also be aware. Here’s 3 Tasks to Ensure the Best Email Marketing Experience for Your Customers.

1. Use One List

Last week a friend texted me a screen shot of an organization they had left but still some how got an email from. Then two days later a similar thing happened to me. I KNOW I have unsubscribed from this company multiple times so had to email the owners to make sure they really got it this time. I get the appeal and ease of having multiple lists, but if someone unsubscribes from ONE list they need to be unsubscribed from all of your lists. Now is the time to clean your lists up and use one main list. This is what tagging is for.

2. Verify Your Domain & Authenticate It

Over the past month I’ve had multiple clients have CRAZY click rates when we go to review their newsletter stats. I’ve talked with some of my fellow Mailchimp Pro Partners and it’s a common challenge thanks to Apple and Google’s changing privacy rules. The first thing to do is make sure you have your domain authenticated and are using a professional email address, not a gmail/personal email account. Here’s a bit more about the issue, and here’s an article of what’s coming in 2024 with Gmail.

3. Get Your Year End Schedule in Place NOW

Holidays, school breaks, vacations, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday are all happening way sooner than we’re ready for. Make a plan this week to figure out your communications strategy through the end of the year. Bonus points if you’re a client and send me your plan before I email you in the next few days!

If you get stuck on any of these challenges, please respond and we can setup time to chat!
