3 Tactical Ways To Stay on Track With Your Fitness in the Winter

Winter can be a formidable opponent in the battle for maintaining our health and fitness.

We all know from our military background that the weather has a dramatic affect on our morale and motivation to get the job done!

.

Just as we navigate complex missions, it's crucial to approach the winter season with a tactical mindset to ensure we stay on track with our health and fitness goals.

Here are three battle-tested strategies, I Use with my clients to help you conquer the challenges of winter and emerge victorious on your wellness mission

Establish a Winter HQ (Home Gym)

In the military, we understand the significance of having a well-equipped base to operate from.

Similarly, creating a winter headquarters for your fitness routine is essential.

For those that don't have a gym membership, Invest in basic home gym equipment like dumbbells, resistance bands, or a yoga mat to ensure you have the tools needed for a successful mission, even on the coldest days.

This strategic move eliminates the weather as a potential obstacle and allows you to maintain your fitness regimen in the comfort of your own space.

Strategic Nutrition Plan.

You are more likely to overconsume food in the winter.

This isn't always a bad thing as you can use this as an advantage. When you diet for a long period of time, your body adapts, leaving your results lagging and you energy zapped!

Have more food, means more energy! This is a good chance to improve performance, gain muscle and increase strength.

Don't be afraid of putting a little bit of weight on. If you control the increase in calories and use it as a reverse diet, you are less likely to go off the rails!

Deploy a Battle Buddy.

Training alone can often leave you feeling unmotivated.

It's easier to let your self down, but not so easy letting someone else down.

Getting a battle buddy to phys with is another form of accountability.

Loneliness and isolation is a problem with some veterans and the winter months can increase this factor.

Having someone to exercise with is a great way to keep on top of your mental health!

Knowledge isn't power....

Acting on that knowledge is.

Take action with these three steps, don't overthinking it.
