You had the recruiter call. You thought it went great. And then….
Radio silence.
You check your LinkedIn.. and nothing.
You refresh your email (again)… and nothing.
You wait and wait and wait… and nothing.
Ghosting after recruiter calls is frustrating, disappointing, and exhausting.
Here are 3 simple things my clients do to avoid getting ghosted and maximize their chances of moving forward in the interview process:
Clarify Next Steps During the Interview
At the end of the interview, ask:
"How fast are you looking to close this role?"
"What are the next steps in the process?"
This gives you a clear timeline of when to follow up and shows the recruiter that you are serious about the position.
Follow Up Thoughtfully
Thank you notes are not cliche. Follow up with a thank you note, summarizing the most important skills and experience required for the role.
Drop another follow-up in a week and the next one a couple of weeks out.
Top of mind is front in line.
Debrief Your Interview After Every Call
After each interview, spend 10 minutes debriefing your interview:
What did I do well?
What did I not do well?
What should I change next time?
Self-debriefing is the fastest way to understand it’s worth your time to follow up with the recruiter or move your efforts to another role.
With 98 days remaining in 2024, your next $200k+ role can still easily be a reality… but only if you take action.
