3 Steps to Grow Your Career as a Financial Industry Professional

As a financial professional, you might feel that you spend way too much time trying to improve your English, only to continue to have trouble communicating confidently in business meetings and writing effective emails or documents.

You have watched countless videos, studied grammar books, and even spent money on courses promising better English in a short amount of time.

However, you are still not at the English level you wish to be, right?

The truth is that if you continue like that, you will never reach your desired level of English!

Instead of continuing to learn everything, you need to focus on what you need to become a confident, fluent English communicator and find a solution that is specifically designed for financial professionals like you.

To advance your English fluency so you can improve your job performance to secure your dream job, follow these 3 steps:

1. Build Your Business English Vocabulary and Cultural Understanding

To be a fluent English communicator overall, you must learn specific vocabulary centered on business, not simply general English. This will impress clients and co-workers while giving you increased confidence as you communicate in English as a financial professional.

You can achieve this outcome by learning and practicing strategies that help you read smarter for better retention. Read and learn the meanings of words and phrases used in business English; include a study of English business idioms in context, too.

2. Improve Your Spoken English Skills for In-Person and Virtual Meetings

You wish to participate in business meetings and social business gatherings comfortably using more fluent spoken English. Currently, you hesitate to express your ideas for fear of saying the wrong words or being misunderstood. By improving your English pronunciation, intonation, and word choice in conversations, your fluency will improve.

To achieve this improvement, you must practice pronunciation and intonation through actively listening to correct models and practicing with a non-judgmental native English speaker. You must also receive pinpointed correction of sounds and word choice while speaking in context. Do not fear your accent on English, though. It is part of you and your accent is beautiful, but sometimes a slight change in pronunciation will help others understand you better. Learn key phrases used in meetings, negotiations, and presentations for your comfort and confidence in speaking English. Work with a native English speaker to truly improve your speaking skills.

3. Enhance Business English Email and Document Writing Skills

Advance beyond basic email structures to express and impress clients and co-workers with proper English wording to improve your written English communication with clarity and more certainty.

To achieve effective email and document writing, you must learn language patterns of business English. Using your expanded business vocabulary and cultural understanding, you will practice variations of your business writing to either inform the reader or call the reader to action. Learn the words and expressions English speakers use in business situations.
