3 Step Strategy to Turning Your LinkedIn Comments into Clients

Engaging in LinkedIn comments can be more effective than you think.

Commenting not only increases your visibility on LinkedIn but also acts as a catalyst for starting conversations that can lead to business opportunities.

In this week's article, I’m going to share a simple 3-step strategy I use to turn comments into clients, one you can apply today.

Step 1: Focus on Adding Value

When leaving comments, avoid generic responses or simple agreements.

Instead:

  • Ask a follow-up question.
  • Share a short, helpful tip that directly addresses the post.

This positions you as an expert and creates interest in what you offer, not just from the post’s author but also from others viewing the comment.

Step 2: Be Consistent

Commenting once or twice won’t make a lasting impact.

Consistently engaging with posts from the people you want to work with keeps you on their radar.

Over time, they’ll recognise you as someone who regularly contributes valuable insights.

Step 3: Take the Conversation to Direct Messages

After a few meaningful interactions, move the conversation to direct messages.

Reference something specific from the comments and offer to discuss how you can help with their needs.

This shifts the interaction from public comments to private discussions, where real connections happen.

Comments on LinkedIn are visible to a wider audience, not just the post creator and they aren’t limited by the LinkedIn algorithm. This gives you the potential for greater visibility and reach.

How Many Comments Should You Leave Daily on LinkedIn?

I recently conducted a LinkedIn poll to find out. The majority of people leave fewer than 10 comments per day.

Here are the results to give you an insight into the poll responses ??

Interesting poll about the # of comments. If they’re strategic that may be enough. But if you’re making strategic comments but also responding to comments on your post - that’s not a lot.
