3 SLEEPS TO CHRISTMAS…
Howzit guys!
3 days to Christmas…
I miss the way Christmas felt when I was a child. The excitement of waiting for Santa to deliver my presents, the excitement of maybe spotting Santa flying through the sky.
The excitement of leaving out his favourite food by the Christmas tree, the excitement of finding your wrapped present under the tree…
The excitement of opening your presents with your family in the early mornings and getting to play with your toys…
I really miss this.
I used to relive this excitement through my children…until they realised Father Christmas wasn’t real. But until recently I managed to feel the same excitement.
My kids are still excited about Christmas, but in a different way.
My daughter is counting down the days still and she cannot wait to open her presents.
But for me, the excitement is not the same.
Perhaps I should try believing in Santa again?
Its always exciting to believe in something magical right?
We get to focus on something that takes us away from our daily stresses and normality.
It’s a break from the norm.
Christmas is also about family.
It’s about giving rather than receiving.
It’s about catching up with friends and family.
It’s about spreading the love…
It’s about quality time.
My challenge is then to regain the excitement of Christmas!
But I think it has always been there.
Its exciting for me in a different way.

I make it exciting by appreciating what I have.
Appreciating who I spend it with.
I even love hearing the Boney M Christmas songs on the radio!
Christmas time has a euphoria that carries everyone on a happy high.
Kinda like when the Springboks are doing well during the World Cup.
It is contagious!
3 more sleeps…. I cannot wait!
I have realised that things need to get scary before they get better…
We often need to experience the worst of something to appreciate the best of something.
I am not saying this is always the case but when things get scary, we can either run away screaming or stand up to it and move through it.
I am also not saying that things must get really bad before they get good, but we need to appreciate that sometimes the tough times are sent as a challenge.
A challenge to get out of the comfort zone.
A challenge to make things right.
A challenge to find out what you are really made of.
A challenge to prove yourself.
A challenge to define your path.
The past two years have been scary for me at times.
But I believe in my destination.
I believe in myself. Again.
Here’s wishing all of you reading this a very exciting and special Christmas, shared with your family, and loved ones!! There might not be too many Christmas gifts for you under the Christmas tree but there’s always lots to be grateful for! Christmas time is a time for giving but also a time for appreciation. A time for loving yourself as well as others!
I will see you on the other side of Christmas!
