3 SIMPLE STEPS TO JUMP-START CAMPAIGNS

It can be intimidating to run your first advertising campaign.?

It can even be pretty intimidating if you’ve run 100 campaigns before because these platforms change all the time without telling you.?

So that means what worked for you last month may not work next month.?

But, there is a way you can jump-start your campaigns, and that’s with some reliable competitor research.


Ad Spying Tool

One of the easiest ways to research your competitors is by using the Facebook ad library.?

If you haven’t used the Facebook ad library before it’s really simple, just Google “Facebook Ad Library” and you’ll find it as the top result.

Facebook created this section of their platform to provide advertising transparency for others to look up.

But what this really means is business owners and marketers get to spy on their top competitors to see what kind of ads they're running!

When Facebook made this available they opened the doors for more inspiration, strategy, and reduced the amount of research needed to go into creating ads.

Now, this doesn’t replace creativity at all, but it does take away the amount of work you need to do if you're trying to find out why your competitors are becoming so successful or if you run into a “creative block.”?


3 Simple Steps

Once you’re in the Facebook Ad Library it’s just a matter of following 3 simple steps:

  1. Choose the country or location you want to search in.
  2. Choose “All Ads” in the next drop-down menu.?
  3. And finally, type in the name of a competitor or keywords.?

When you choose one of the results, you get to see all the ads the company is running on the Meta family of apps (Instagram & Facebook).?

And guess what? You get to see how long the ad has been running, which is great! Why?

Because if an ad has been running for a long time it means it obviously works!

And it’s most likely a great ad to model for your own campaign.?

Will it work for sure? No guarantees, but like I said in the beginning, this is a way to jump-start your campaigns.?


Final Extra Step

So what do you do once you’ve modeled your competitor's ad?

Well, once you’ve picked an ad you want to model and modeled it to your brand's look and feel, all that you have to do is run the ad!

Monitor the results closely, and turn off losing ads quickly.

So if you really wanted to be strategic about your ads, you’d make sure to pick multiple to model before you ran any of them.

But I’ll say this one final thing...?

Always keep in mind that marketing is like baseball. Even if you only hit the ball 3 out of 10 times, you have a hall of fame worthy career.

So, don’t judge yourself too hard after only one or two campaigns.?

Ads are always being turned on and off in the game of marketing, but the ones who hit home runs are the ones we’re always striving for.
