3 Secrets to Getting Work Fast as a New Independent Adjuster (without having to wait on the weather)

3 Secrets to Getting Work Fast as a New Independent Adjuster (without having to wait on the weather)

The reason you aren't working is you are doing everything wrong.

Don't worry, you aren't alone and it isn't your fault. I've mentored and trained thousands of adjusters and the story is always the same. "Someone told me to get an adjuster's license, get some training and wait for a hurricane." While this approach works for some people, it takes months or years to get traction in our industry.

I'm going to show you another, faster way.

#1 Don't Play the Adjuster Lottery (Catastrophic Claims)

There are over 20,000 licensed adjusters in the state of Texas alone.

This means when you get your adjuster license and get on a roster, you are technically behind all of them. The odds of there being a major weather event that you get called for as a newbie adjuster is like playing the lottery. You may get a small win, but the jackpot you expect isn't likely.

Instead of catastrophic claims I recommend starting with daily claims.

With daily claims you are only competing with the other adjusters in your area. I like the odds of competing against a dozen adjusters for work instead of 20,000.

Don't you?

#2 Put the Odds in Your Favor (Auto Claims)

Car wrecks happen across the nation every day.

This means no matter where you live, you have the opportunity as an independent adjuster or appraiser to get work every day. You aren't waiting for shingles to blow off a roof or a toilet to back up. You are waiting for two people to hit in the Walmart parking lot.

Starting in daily auto claims ensures there is work for you and puts the odds in your favor.

Also, most states don't require an adjuster's license to handle auto claims as an appraiser. This means you can start working WITHOUT an adjusters license in a majority of the states. Yes, I know most people don't tell you this, but now you know.

You can get working even without an adjuster's license.

#3 Start Part Time (Yes You Can!)

You can begin working claims without quitting your job.

In fact, at IA Path , we recommend our students work part time. This is another significant benefit of starting with daily auto claims. You can inspect vehicles at nights and on the weekends. Catastrophic claims require that you jump all, but daily claims allow you to ease into this new career.

You can learn the process and become confident in your skill set before you quit your job and jump into claims.

How to Get Started With Daily Auto Claims

If you want to learn how to handle daily auto claims, IA Path has an Adjuster Mentorship Community where we train and mentor new IA's.

We have courses on how to handle, inspect, and write auto claims and courses on how to get started in your career.

If you have questions (and we all do) you can ask questions and myself and our mentors, along with 600+ other adjusters, can help you by answering the question.

You don't have to figure this out on your own.
