These are the 3 secret numbers that will change your life forever if you use them properly and deliberately: welcome to the PDD conundrum!

“Short term thinking is everywhere. Noisy feuds over little prizes.?
The long term thinker will be king. Win the decade, not the day.”
This article is not about rap, especially American rap.?
You might be asking why I am bringing this subject up.?
If you are fond of rap, when you read “PDD”, you saw P.Diddy, didn't you??
If you are familiar with the universe of Game of Thrones, you know Jaqen H’ghar, the faceless man or the man with many faces.
Well P.Diddy is the Jaqen H’ghar when it comes to names.?
“Sean Combs (born Sean John Combs; November 4, 1969),[6][7] also known by the stage names Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Puffy or Diddy, is an American rapper, record executive, record producer, and entrepreneur.”

Let’s do a quick some time travel, let’s go back to being Bad Boys again, one last time:
But nothing beats going back to the source of all: the one and only Bob Marley!
Now let me tell you a little bit about my “PDD”.?
As of today, I am often asked the question: How can you do all those things??
And my answer to that question requires a little bit of context.
Since the last 4 years, both personally or professionally, I have been stacking up some habits to do more, day in and day out.
It started in 2017, when I started my journey of self-improvement by reading books and that resulted in 2018 on me starting journaling every single day of my life, twice a day.
I started sharing #TheQuoteOfDay internally at Airbus in 2017 every single working day. And I am still doing it today.
Then in 2018, I started to do video interviews from A to Z, interviewing my Airbus colleagues on my #ChillaxingWithMad series.?
In the course of 2 years I consistently delivered one interview per month until COvid-19 hit in March 2020.
By the end of 2018, I started writing weekly articles like this one to share what I have learned and to tell my story from my perspective.
In 2020, I embarked the #AirbusAfricaCommunity, a community of Airbus Employees who have Africa in their heart, in the initiative www.makersnordsud.org.
We just got fully funded to have an impact in more than 10 countries in West Africa to 20 fab labs in more than 8 countries.
And more projects are coming my way.
There is one caveat to this story. One secret that I omitted to share.
I have been doing all of those activities during the worst health crisis ever known to human history.
And to add an extra challenge, or 2 extra ones to be more specific, I was blessed with 2 beautiful boys in the same period: Noah-Ali (Born in 2019) and Elijah-Omar (Born in 2021).
I pride myself to make sure that I spend as much time as necessary with them for them, and mostly for me.
The secret to achieving all of this without going in-sane or burned-out relies on my 3 friends P, D, D.
These are the 3 numbers to get more shot done:
Yes, stay with me, it will get exciting.?
One bonus tip is that the following rules can be applied both to personnel or professional environments: 1 stone, 2 birds!?
(Technically 3 stones, 6 birds! But you are not here for math!)
1. 20% OR THE PARETO PRINCIPLE - This rule states that 80% of the outcomes in life is the result of only 20 % of the input.
“The Pareto principle states that for many outcomes, roughly 80% of consequences come from 20% of causes (the “vital few”).[1]Other names for this principle are the 80/20 rule, the law of the vital few, or the principle of factor sparsity.”
Source: Wikipedia
At work, or on a private project, I always spend some time identifying where my best 20% inputs are.?
I don’t want to spend time and energy to reach the perfect score for the extra 20% output that would require 80% of additional inputs.

By applying the 80/20 rule, I can have more time to do other projects by identifying the magic 20% input.
2. 33 ISH % OF THE DATING RULE - The exact number is 37%. Yet 33% is easy to remember. We all are familiar with one-third.
(Ain’t nobody here for the exact figures).
This rule is based on the secretary problem.?
Imagine that you have to interview 100 candidates for a secretary position. There is one caveat. If you reject a candidate, they cannot come back.
How many people should you interview to have the “perfect candidate”??
In an ideal world, you could interview the 100, then make your decision. In reality that is impossible. Because you don’t know how many candidates will show up.
The math says that you will be wrong 2/3 of the time to pick the right candidate.?
So if you have already interviewed 1/3 of the candidates, you can save some time.?
How can you do that??
Well you pick the best candidate from the first third (Pool 01). You have your preferred candidate out of the 33 candidates. Then you go to interview the candidates from 34 to 100 (Pool 02).
Yet you don’t have to go to the 100. The moment you find 1 candidate from Pool 02 that beats your winner of Pool 02, you can stop there.
Yes, I know what you are saying: “Yes, but in real life, as you said earlier, we don’t know how many candidates will show up.”
The tip is to convert the number of ideal candidates (1 to 100) in the time on the activity we are talking about.?
Imagine that you want to buy a new house. And you give yourself 9 months to make your choice.?
That is your 1 to 100 candidates.?
By applying this rule, you could pick the best homes from your 3 first months of house hunting and put it aside.?
Then in the coming months, you find a new house that clicks to you more than the one from the first 3 months, you should buy that one. It will save you a lot of time.
3. 85 % OR THE DELEGATION RULE - This rule is about how much of what you have delegated is satisfying.
In other words, if you delegate an action to an employee, your child, or any person who does not have the same skills as you, how much is a “good” delegation??
For most of us, we delegate things we used to do to people. And we are frustrated when they don’t do it like we would have done 100%.
Often we spend time redoing things because we are not satisfied with the result.
According to Robert Glazer, Entrepreneur, Author, Keynote Speaker & Board Member | Founder & CEO Acceleration Partners:
“This is a concept that I had to learn when I first became a manager that I now consistently share with new leaders at Acceleration Partners. The 85 Percent Rule of Delegation says that effective delegation is when something is done 85 percent how you would have done it yourself, without you having to be involved. Though it's difficult at first, we are better off considering an 85 percent outcome a win, then addressing the last 15 percent with better instruction and coaching going forward. ”
This 85% rule kind of complements the Pareto principle. Here you don’t need to spend that extra time to recover the remaining 15% of output if you had to do it yourself.
By applying this principle, you empower and grow other people. You save some time by delegating well and being contemptuous with the “well enough” and not the “I would have done it differently.”
These are the 3 rules that helps me do more and be more while staying sane:
I consider that my time is my most precious asset in life. I don’t want to waste it chasing material thongs.?
I will do everything to guard it to build memories with my family, my loved ones, my friends and the communities I am part of.
And I owe my sanity of achieving this life to my friend P.D.D.
Are you a “do it all”?
Are you a “never satisfied” dater?
Are you a compulsive perfectionist?
