Welcome back, I hope it’s been a good week!
There was some major news this week when it comes to AI and its implications on the marketing world, so stay until the end to learn about this new software!
- Meta has finally improved their offerings for Instagram ads. You can now officially target your Instagram followers and build lookalike audiences off of those users. Previously, you were able to target users who interacted with your Instagram, but not necessarily your followers. This will allow advertisers to better utilize their true fans and potentially find more accurate lookalike audiences.
- If you own a small business, make sure you work towards gaining positive reviews. This isn’t a novel concept, but a recent study showed that about 96% of users look to reviews before engaging with a local business. Strong reviews are great, but it’s important to clearly showcase these reviews on your Google page, social media, and most importantly, your website. Social proof is real, and if you want to grow beyond your current customer base, reviews will help you build trust and gain new leads.
- The big launch this week was OpenAI’s new platform, ChatGPT. Think of Google, but only getting one result, and it’s likely the best and most specific result. ChatGPT allows you to type in essentially any request or question, and you will get an answer back in a few seconds. This will make gaining information much easier for everyone. So how do you not let this affect your job as a marketer? You need to focus less on the basic skills, and more on the strategy behind why you perform certain tasks. You need to think beyond just developing a nice looking email, but rather the strategy and reason why you are performing such tasks. ChatGPT isn’t a perfect science just yet, but with more AI services coming out, it’s a matter of time before this technology becomes more widely used and accepted. So keep ahead of the game, learn how this technology can support you, and work to grow beyond the basics.
