1. Never fall in love with a company, a manager, a tool, or a position. If you are laid off, or, your manager moves on, or a tool becomes obsolete, or your position becomes redundant, you have made mental provisions to move on quickly without emotional baggage.
2. If you have knowledge of a process, tool, or product, if someone asks you for help, give it away as soon as you can because knowledge is like a loaf of bread and it has a best before date in addition to busying out your colleague so that all new projects come to you.
3. Every 24 to 36 months, make a move. A move can be changing positions, your projects, or your company as change allows for growth and increased satisfaction.
