3 Rules before going to Supermarket

We all have been in that place where we go to the supermarket and end up buying kinds of stuff that we either didn’t need or are just a bunch of junk food. Today in this blog we are going to talk about what are the three rules before going to the supermarket.

A lot of times when we go to the supermarket hungry, it’s observed that we buy stuff that we never needed. This is because our brain tricks us into thinking we need the product but in a real sense, we just bought it because we were hungry. This mental trick makes us consume more calorie than required and can also make us go fat and unhealthy. When we go to the supermarket hungry, we tend to buy sugary stuff a lot whereas if you eat before going to the supermarket, you end up buying only those products that you need.

Planning menus beforehand is the second rule in grocery shopping. It is very important to write down the stuff that we need to buy for a week or two. This helps us with unnecessary expenditure and also helps with buying healthy stuff. When you meal plan, you not only target the monthly/ weekly budget but also target what products to buy, which is extremely necessary for the house and which ones are healthy or unhealthy.

Sticking to whole food items in the supermarket is the last rule during grocery shopping. Here are the lists of items that you can pick before you end up shifting your mind towards unhealthy stuff.

1.   In fruits, you can buy - Berries, citrus fruits, pears, pineapple, bananas.

2.   In vegetables, you can buy - Spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, bell peppers, etc.

3.   In proteins, you can buy - chicken, eggs, seafood/fish.

4.   For starchy vegetables, you can buy - Potatoes, sweet potatoes, butternut squash.

5.   In whole grains you can buy - Brown rice, rolled oats, quinoa, barley, jowar.

6.   In fats, you can buy - Avocados, olive oil, coconut oil.

7.   In legumes, you can buy - Peas, chickpeas, lentils, peanuts, black beans.

8.   In seeds and nuts, you can buy - Almonds, cashews, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, natural peanut butter, tahini, etc.

9.   In spices, herbs and seasonings you can buy - Basil, rosemary, turmeric, ginger powder, oregano, cinnamon powder.

Hope this blog helps you make the right choice while entering a supermarket.
