Burying important information
Your CV will have little time to impress. The recruiter will look at your CV and think ‘Why should I interview this person? What will they bring to the organization?
Make relevant information stand out on your CV. This could be through some information in bold and persuasive language i.e. action words and achievements.
It's too generic
A generically written CV that you plan on sending to numerous different employers will show a lack of care. The hiring manager wants to read a CV and instantly get an impression that this person is passionate and dedicated to the role and the company. A generic CV cannot provide those things, and will most likely get rejected.
Take your time to read the job advert to gain a better understanding of what skills, qualifications and experience the company is expecting a candidate to have.
Pay attention to the keywords that have been used, so you can also use the same or similar keywords and phrases within your CV to help stay on the same page as the hiring manager .
Irrelevant experience
No matter how great a skillset you got from a past job, it should not appear in your work experience section, unless it is obvious to the hiring manager why it is there.
That’s because hiring managers are always looking for relevant work experience on your resume. If you include something irrelevant, there is a great chance they will skip over that, or even worse, skip on your entire resume.
