Ever set a goal and failed at it??
Or even worse, you totally forgot about the said goal?
Yep, it happens to almost all of us.?
Research shows that a whopping?92 percent ?of people who set New Year's goals never achieve them.?
But still, we are obsessed with goal setting every single year. So this year, why don't we try something new.?
This year, let's address the top 3 reasons you might fail at all your goals, not just the New Year goals.?
Lack of prioritization:?In the newness of the new year, everything feels like a priority, and everything feels doable. We all tend to overestimate what we can do and underestimate how much work it will take to accomplish the said goals. Setting challenging goals can motivate us for a few days, but when things get hard, or we realize the goal is not a priority, we tend to give up altogether. Over time, this becomes a bad habit, erodes our existing self-confidence, and makes us feel worse about ourselves.?
To avoid this pitfall in 2022, try to prioritize your life areas by simply ranking them on a scale of 1-5, 5 being the most important and one being the least important. From here, figure out what goals you want to set and achieve in the most critical area of your life.?
Lack of clarity:?How can you use a GPS if you don't have the address of where you are going? That's what happens when we try to set goals with no clear idea of where it will take us or where we are trying to go. You are not alone in this. We all grew up being taught what to do, told where to go, pressured to choose a profession, which influenced our abilities to seek clarity.?
To get clarity, all you need to do is ask yourself a simple question, "Where do I want to be in the next 12 months in this area of my life". Don't escape this question, don't deny it, or don't let it bog you down. Just ask it till you find an answer. Once you have an answer, only then proceed to set a goal.?

Lack of vision:?You need to develop the skill of seeing things before they happen. Having a vision makes all goals easier to accomplish. Having a vision allows us to work through tough times and get behind on our goals. It builds resilience while building our self-confidence. Visualization is another skill no one taught you growing up, and the lack of it is costing you a lot of time and resources.?
A simple way to start visualizing is; begin by answering this question for all your goals, "What does success look like for this goal." Whether it's more money, a new title, or a brand new job, all you have to do is close your eyes and imagine what success looks like.?
Every goal I have ever accomplished in my life or I have helped my clients accomplish has been by being mindful of the above pitfalls.?
