You might go to the occasional happy hour with your colleagues, but you are less likely to count them among your friends. A recent poll from job search and workplace review site Glassdoor indicates employees may no longer seek out friendships with their co-workers in the way they once did.
It’s a symptom of changing times—we live in an era of ubiquitous remote work, short-term career thinking, at a time when layoff round after layoff round reminds everyone their job could be taken away at any moment. It might actually be time to kiss the concept of the work bestie or the work spouse goodbye, according to Glassdoor’s data.
