3 Reasons Why Self-Motivation is The Best Form of Motivation
How does one get motivated? - It has been a topic of debate and deliberation for quite some time now. How to motivate self and others around has been a struggle for many. The absence of motivation is not necessarily demotivation, but yes, it does impact the overall mood, well-being & productivity of an individual.
Motivation is a must for everyone. Whether you are a student, a professional, or a businessperson, you need the motivation to go on. Mostly, life doesn't always pan out the way we want it. It takes us on bumpy paths sometimes and, in turn, upsets our plan. Then to pick ourselves up and go on, we need some motivation. It could be self-driven, or some external factors can come for the rescue. But whether it's self-induced or external, you need to participate. It will need your concurrence and involvement to make it work for you. Rather than depending on others for doses of motivation, we should find ways to keep ourselves motivated without any help. Here are three reasons why self-motivation is the best form of motivation is as follows:
- Motivation works best when it is Personal: We look forward to personal benefits in everything that we do. If the 'WIIFME' (What's in it for me) is well defined, activities get done with passion, and efforts come straight from the heart. We mostly love pouring our hearts into personal causes. The challenges seem to matter less in these situations, and we try to find solutions on our own. We become self-driven, and we end up achieving more. The whole process becomes a rewarding affair, and the sense of achievement is immense.
- Setting personal goals / targets and achieving them is the best form of Motivation: We all feel good when we achieve something. Setting a goal of achieving more than 90% marks during school days and achieving it used to make us so happy and excited. Deciding to score a century in a friendly cricket match and achieving it made us feel like we were on Top of the World. All of these goals and their achievements were personal and made us feel excited the most. The feeling of being on Top of the world is priceless, and this is possible without any help from anyone. Nothing has to change in the world for us to feel great about ourselves. We can set a goal, small or big, achieve it, and feel great. Deciding to start going for a jog at 6 am from tomorrow and doing the same can give us this feeling. Try it. It will keep you charged the entire day. Make this a habit, and you will fall into the unique and very niche category of 'Self Motivated' people in this world.
- Self-Motivation puts you in charge: Self-motivation allows you to be in control of your life. When you are dependent on other people to motivate you and don't turn up, motivation can get delayed. It has a direct impact on your well-being, productivity, and progress in life. Such a critical aspect of our life can't be left in the hands of irresponsible people and need to be managed by self. With you in charge, you can always increase and decrease your dose as per the requirement.
You will agree that these points are simple and easy to implement. This, in a way, makes you responsible for all the good and bad in life. I feel this is a great state to be in when you are accountable for everything around you. This allows you to course-correct and get back on track whenever you feel derailed. You stop blaming others and take charge of your life. Being in the driver's seat is, no doubt, a great responsibility as well as a great feeling. So make and practice self-motivation as a standard process of your life.
I wish you and all your loved ones a very happy, prosperous, and Happy Diwali. May you all have a focused and motivated life ahead. Wishing you the very best of everything today and always.
