3 Reasons to Use a LinkedIn Newsletter as Inspired by a Million-Dollar-A-Day Drug Dealer

3 Reasons to Use a LinkedIn Newsletter as Inspired by a Million-Dollar-A-Day Drug Dealer

At the height of his drug empire, Rick Ross was making millions of dollars per day..

Eventually he got arrested and entered prison an angry man, stripped of the freedom and power he once had

Months and years passed

Anger turned to monotony, monotony into reflection..

One afternoon, Rick was approached by Professor A.?

Professor A asked Rick one day, "You ever think about why you ended up here?" Then he handed him a book, The Autobiography of Malcolm X

The book hit Rick hard.?

He began to see that like Malcolm, he was the product of violence for survival

He then developed an insatiable hunger for knowledge

He wanted to understand more about why things were the way they were, and what he could do to change them

He started studying law, and looked for ways that he could reduce his sentence, and gain his freedom once more

All the while, he developed a new mission

A mission to speak out against drug abuse and speak for criminal justice reform

Rick found discrepancies in his life-sentence, and successfully appealed it so that he could leave prison after just a decade

He then traveled the country, speaking wherever he could to share this message:

"Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world."

…Right on Rick, right on…

Why do I tell you this story?

Reason #1 is so that I can tell you I found it while listening to a JRE podcast the other day, and that on Friday, during my "How to Write Your Own LinkedIn Newsletter Without Headache" training, I'm gonna give you a whole bunch of strategies to use to make sure you always have good stories to write about

Reason #2 is a bit deeper…

It has to do with unlocking your "new" mission to affect more people with your content, and get them hungry to hear your ideas

You see, I realized that one of the reasons why I've been someone inconsistent with with my content the past couple years (if you can call missing a couple days a week inconsistent), is the format I was limited to here on LI

Maybe it could be for you too..

Before doing this LI Newsletter, I was limited to 3,000 characters, and it wasn't enough

I either had to choose the story, or the value. There simply isn't enough space to fit both

I mean sure there is.?

But then the whole post gets so surface level, and I hate writing like that..

Reason #3 has to do with the fact that I can actually see who is reading my newsletters

Meaning I know people actually care about reading my newsletters

On a normal social media post, analytics just tell you how many impression they get

Which very well means that someone may have just scrolled through their feed at light speed, and never read a single word of what you wrote or peeped a single peep of your video

…Even with "engagement" gotten (likes, loves, etc) you don't know very well if someone actually read it, or is just hitting that like button to support you..

With a LI Newsletter however, someone actually has to click on the post and open it up, for you to get a "view" on it

Which is great!

Because 1, you get the assurance and the satisfaction of knowing that people actually chose your post to read

And 2, you get to test things!

Meaning that if someone has to click on the post for you to get a view, you have to have a great headline for them to want to click..

So you'll be able to see what types of headlines (meaning topics) have worked best to get views

Then also!

You get to see the effectiveness of the links you put in your newsletters

If you're getting sign ups or sales to an event you're putting on, you'll know that it was the link in your newsletter that got them there

So yes,?

Writing a LI newsletter is pretty sweet in many ways

If it's your style…

Gotta be honest, I'm liking it so far

But it doesn't mean I'll stick to it forever

Of course not

What I'm doing is trying it out, seeing what I like and don't like about it,

gonna tell you what I like and don't like about it

And we can go from there.

So maybe a LI Newsletter is the right format for you..

Maybe it's a format that will unlock your creativity, keep you writing consistently, and getting your unique story resonating with the right people whom you can serve well

I'll tell you more about how I use mine, how to come up with endless ideas for what you can talk about in yours, how to format newsletter posts to combine story and value, and how to get people buying from you when you post them, in Friday's training..
