3 Reasons NOT to Upgrade to Magento 2

Meanwhile we know for years that Magento 1 will become obsolete (end-of-support) some day. To be frank, it will happen in June 2020.
Don’t worry, let me give you 3 reasons why you should ignore all signs and stay with your Magento 1 installation.
1. Browsers don’t change anymore
Browsers didn’t really change since Netscape and they work all the same. If you stay with Magento 1 you can be sure that even without the future updates the user experience will always be perfect. Today, but also in the future. On desktops and especially on mobile devices.
2. No more features out there
eCommerce is mature and Magento 1 has all features needed for the next 5 to 7 years. There is no need for future updates. Look at Wordpress, Shopify and all the other CMS. They are feature-stable for the past 3 to 4 years.
3. Security is just a hype
With the end-of-support of Magento 1 they also stop sending us these nasty security patches. That’s a relief! We never got hacked, so why all this hype? Payment systems, CRM systems and all other connected systems won’t get more exposed because Magento 1 doesn’t get any more patches and updates.
You see, Magento 1 users will be totally safe. ;-)
Therefore I really don’t understand why over the past 2 years over 40 eCommerce companies wanted us to help them to upgrade from Magento 1 to Magento 2. Maybe they don’t believe what I say about browsers, features and security…
By coincidence, Magento 1 upgrades became a super strong domain expertise for us. We know the process, we know what to do, we know where to be careful, and we know how to offer this upgrade service in the most cost efficient way for our customers.
Me, together with my 90 colleagues are among the top 3 Magento expert centers in Poland and we help the smartest eCommerce shops in Europe.

5 年I agree with not upgrading, migrate away while you can ;) It’s not an upgrade, it’s a reimplementation.

5 年Security is just hype? You never got hacked? With 4 percent of global revenue at risk in fines, I'd think again.
