3 reasons to publish on LinkedIn

You've read your peers' posts on LinkedIn. You've checked out what the competitors and their leaders share on this professional social media network. You've even posted on your feed a few times and shared comments beyond "Congrats" on others' posts.

But, that's not enough.

Why?

In case you haven't noticed, Google's SERPs (search engine results pages) AI overview lately is serving up forums like Reddit, Quora, and LinkedIn content as some of the top results to questions and keyword search terms.

That means there's never been a better time to post thought leadership writing on LinkedIn that will serve the masses.

Here are a few reasons to publish original articles on LinkedIn:

Get LinkedIn's step-by-step process for publishing content on LinkedIn as an article or newsletter.

  • You might show up higher in search results. That low-traffic brand blog that isn't converting might not be doing much to help you and your small business stand out. So why not take some of that writing that you're working so hard on and incorporate it into a LinkedIn content strategy? Publishing content on LinkedIn's article section and linking to it from your brand blog, newsletters, and social can help it show up higher in search results.

Here's an example of a search term that one of my LinkedIn articles is ranking on page one for on the keyword phrase "freelance branding."

I'm a regular poster on LinkedIn which helps me show up in others' feeds but I don't tend to see my posts show up in Google search results in the same way the articles do so I think (not confirmed) that they seem to be given more weight and relevance by Google. (Also possibly because they are longer?)

  • You'll be seen as a thought leader in the space. You might want to be hired as a conference speaker on the topic of sustainable business practices in the travel industry or, promote services as a marketing professional who teaches small business owners how to use AI to streamline processes. Writing strategic content on a platform like LinkedIn can help you stand out in a crowded digital space. LinkedIn articles are public and can be viewed by those who aren't on the social media platform.
  • You can land in the email inboxes of people whose addresses you don't have. If you turn your LinkedIn article into a regular newsletter and have subscribers, the article content can be delivered directly to the inbox of someone who subscribed but isn't subscribed to your company newsletter. It's a great way to remind potential clients, former colleagues, and friends of what you're up to and the topics you're knowledgeable about.
