I've been spending a lot of my energy lately changing my habits and overall living a healthier lifestyle; Physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially, I have been spending my time trying to be the best I can be. Learning has been the forefront of this for me this year, and it has really changed my life for the better.
There are a few things I added to my life that are going to be lifelong habits, but the one I wanted to share and elaborate on was podcasting.
There are a million ways to get content, but a lot of what we do is scroll through and stumble on is garbage and meant for the quick stimulation. Some of these platforms and social media apps where we get most of our information from are sort of like walking into a casino and seeing the flashing lights everywhere, giving you sensory overload. There is nothing wrong with that, but spending your time on something your passionate about and turning on a podcast instead can lead to compounding benefits.
I wanted to share what I feel are the 3 main benefits of listening to podcasts everyday. These may not be the most important for everyone, but these 3 takeaways have effected my life for the better, so here we go.
- Learning - This one seems pretty straight forward, but learning is a huge part of listening to podcasts, given you listen to ones that are productive. A few of the podcasts that are on my list are Business Unusual with Barbara Cochran, and The Mindset Mentor with Rob Dial. Both podcasts give actionable advice, tips, tricks, and positivity to be a better you! I learn or re-learn something everyday from these podcasts.
- Productivity - Listening to positive and worthwhile podcasts will help get rid of some of the scrolling and the desire to flip on TikTok to watch videos (at least videos without purpose). The more I listen to podcasts, the more I want to dive into these podcasts topics that hosts talk about. Listening to Millionaires Unveiled, some of the things I hear have completely changed my outlook and helped me be more productive (in this case, financially). Basically, the basis of the show is just interviewing Millionaires on how they generated their wealth. Pretty simple concept, and for me, listening to a business owner talk about his rise to wealth is more interesting than TikTok dances. When I realized the productivity levels I was growing based off of listening to good and getting rid of the nonsense, the more profound I found the impact of podcasting.
- Momentum - Exercising and focusing on nutrition is great. Maybe you try one or two things a friend told you. Maybe you see some results and lose 10 pounds. Then 20, 30, and 40... The momentum and habits from listening to podcasts is sort of the same. When you have a subject that you're interested in and want to invest your time in, the confidence, knowledge, dialogue, and etc. that you gain help you create momentum that you can build from. I listen to MindPump, which has been a great tool for me to live a healthier lifestyle. They go really deep into nutrition, healthy habits, exercise, and much more. With some personal willpower and some health tips and tricks from the podcasts, I'm down 40 LBS this year. Podcasting doesn't mean weight loss, but it helped me grow and optimize the momentum.
Along with networking, helping people, keeping in touch with your favorites celebrities and current events, podcasts can really be beneficial. There area a million reasons that they have value, so I hope you start your podcast journey and begin listening to at least 1 podcast a day. Once you start, you'll never stop.
