3 Reasons Job Search Is About To Get (Crazy) Hard For Professionals

Getting a job is about to get a lot harder.

  1. The 47 million people that quit their jobs in 2021 and took time off are running out of "safety funds". They're now feeling the pressure to figure out their next career move. And, they're all fighting for the same higher-end jobs.
  2. The tech sector is getting slammed with layoffs. If history is any indicator, the rest of the industries will follow. I've been in the staffing/recruiting industry for decades. This may not be as bad as 2008, but this market correction will be felt by many. In particular, Millennials and Gen Z who will experience it as workers for the first time in their lives.
  3. People who jumped jobs in the last year for a big pay increase will likely be the first ones to be let go . And now they'll have to explain why they are willing to take a job for less money when they can't find one that pays what they were recently earning.
